This was an impulse buy from Volunteer's of America motivated by the fact that it was half price. This large very thin 4" powder compact is something I have never seen before at any thrift. I vaguely remember my mom and grandmother having a small plastic tortoise shell ones though. It's a bit scratched up and appears to be some kind of metal probably lacquered and engraved brass. Really no way to clean it but the interior is pristine with the moire pad and a perfect mirror. It really looks like it never had powder in it or used despite the outside appearance. No marks anywhere so no clue as to the maker. Another odd purchase for a lean day at the thrifts. -Mike-
There is a large number of compact collectors out there Mike. You only need two more! Nice start.
Sure to be a lot of info available somewhere!
Thanks Karen :) I find this one interesting but not enough to start a collection. Now if it were enameled and jewel encrusted I might get hooked...lol
Thanks id :) Maybe I will start looking for more, but this is the first one I've seen anywhere in the past year.
