I bought these as part of a lot of 40 vintage purses at a jewelry. The jeweler knew nothing about vintage bags and was glad to get rid of them since they covered up his display case. Score! Apparently they were part of the collection of a local philanthropist and her daughter brought them in to sell in a giant garbage bag. Yeah, I went white.
The lot contained several more valuable bags with the big designer names, but these were the most interesting to me. I really don't know much about them. They are micro petit point, and about 5-6 inches tall. My favorite one depicts a boating scene with a castle in the distance. The other features a courtship scene on one side and a classical pavilion on the other. I'm not certain of their age although I would guess 30s-40s. I don't know who made the petit point but the frames are stamped Tiffany & Co sterling.
These bags are exquisite.
I don't know anything about bags but lots of searching should turn up auction and other info on them. Works of art really!
stunning and very valuable!!
Beautiful!
Beautiful works of art...I love them both but if I had to pick it would also be the one the boating and castle scene....are you going to show us more?....welcome to CW..... :-)
You scored!!! Sounds like the price was close to nil! Even if you keep these for a long time then decide to sell, if kept in this pristine condition, you will definitely reap the rewards on these! Love when this happens!!!
