Silver plated over copper trumpet vases with a cartouche front and back, in each floral decoration and what looks! like.. a face with a head-dress.
Very industrial looking and modernist I think for it's time of c1900 and are an impressive height of approx...33cm or 13 inches tall.
The mark is for Szandrik and the A.E is for silver plate…founded 1895, collaborated with Krupp-Berndorf
I must really wash all that silver cleaner off...:-/

Hey Inky! These are beautiful. I'm no help, useless with silver marks. A sad reality.
I can help you with a category tip...doesn't matter. They will re-categorize you with in 12 hours. Even if I think I've correctly labeled an item...it gets moved. Sometimes, if I'm stuck, I'll just put it in kitchen. Always gets fixed and it takes stress away. So, if in doubt...kitchen.

Wonderful they are! First I try to figure out style and what part of the world they might be from. Then I go searching for information on the silvermark. I wonder if the oval images on them can give you a hint of the geography? If not could you post a close up of them? Can you read more of the mark than AE? Could it be something like 'slambolo' (what ever that is).
I've search some and just a translator and sambolo seams to be the slovakian word for silver...
I ment to write 'used a trandlator' my phone did that auto thing :-)

Well, I hope my ideas was of some help. There seams to be silvermines in Slovakia. Don't know where to look for slovakian silvermarks though I'm afraid. Hope someone knows. Good luck!
Sorry me again...I used another language identifyer and for slambolo it said slovak or Czech....
Elizabethan....please!!!..don't apologise..I am honoured that you have taken the time to help me..thank you so much...would be great if it was Czech..I haven't had time to take a photo of the front but will for you tomorrow and put it on....I had tried all, those ideas you suggested..even thought it might be Mexican silver but no luck there...believe me I have tried everything and still looking.....:-/
inky, I think I may have it - at least quite a bit of it, thanks to Elisabethan's hint about Slovakia...according to an article I'll list below, A.E. stands for Silver Plated Alpaca silver (Nickle Silver) in Hungarian, and the same article shows the A.E. mark in a similar font to your mark.
Also, the center of your stamp almost appears to be a small flower, and the mark for Sandrik in Dolne Hamre, Slovakia, was a small 'flower' made of seven tiny dots. This link shows his mark within a diamond shape, with the same center flower mark: http://www.silvercollection.it/ASCASSANDRIK.html
In Hungary, they spelled the name differently - Szandrik, and here are two good articles about the company that also explain the various countries they were involved in:

There were some spelling variants of the name, so I hope this is helpful and could possibly be the maker of your beautiful vases! (I always love a good mystery!) :)
let me know if you need any Hungarian info, although google translate solves most issues...these are stunning.
at first I thought they were campaign ware with what looked like a shells of a smaller artillery surrounding a larger shell but its not...just typical Hungarian, they never do as we expect I find...lol...

inky, that is great news! They are wonderful vases. You have such good taste in glass, so why not in silver, too? :) I saw your post when I woke up this morning, so it was a fun mystery to try to solve before I came downstairs to my husband & three year old - funny you saw the response at 6am your time, too! ;)
