This little copper pot with legs sat on a mantle over a fireplace. It was used to melt wax. The size of the copper pot can fit in your hand like a cup size. In the mid 1800's in Sweden the shoe cobbler would come around once a year before fall and measure your feet. Then the leather string to sew your shoe up was dipped in the melted wax to make it easier to stitch together. The children would get one pair of shoes to wear until the next year. This was told to me by the lady who's father brought this from Sweden. He was a little boy in the mid 1800's.
Great story B. Thanks for sharing! Nice little pot too :)
