I believe this is a french guilloche enamel brooch but I´m hoping for help here. Yet another piece that I find lovely but can´t tell what bead it is. Stone? This has the same vague mild smell of perfume/pine/medicin as the earrings I just posted. It might be from earlier perfumes used or from the material of the bead. I love this brooch even if it has some damages from wearing. I´m loving orange and yellow at the moment!
The brooch looks victorian-era to me with the c-clasp on the back but I´m not sure about the rest. I think it´s low carat gold but could also be brass. With the fine enamelwork I will post it as fine jewelry, we´ll see what happens :-).

I will make another post with closeups of the opaque stone. I believe it's probably glass.

Idcloisonne thanks! Your words makes me happy - that a nice brooch makes you think it's mine :-). Very nice of you to say that. What is rose gold? I will look into the carnelia stones, thanks. I will try and put the stone in the refrigerator to see what it feels like, but I don't think this is amber. Thanks for your nice answer.

Hi Elisabethan... you had asked about Jenny Lind trunks and indeed the style is named after the famous opera singer who toured the US and made this form of trunk popular. There were many makers who caught on to the "Buzz" and started churning these beauties out -- some were wonderful works of craftsmanship and others were of standard issue. The styles varies from "Bread Loaf" form to the the sharper angle version. From the 1850's to 60's. They are very beautiful and desired in the world of collecting trunks.... thanks for asking and hope this helps a bit.... PS> I REALLY love this broach... workmanship and craft always shine through in any piece...

Thank you for your nice respons and interesting information. I'm intrigued about the fact that eventhough she was from here I don't think these trunks are known for that here, she went away and her trunk still inspire people to collect them. I'm still wondering about their origin, she must have bought them somewhere, over in America or back home here in Sweden?

hi, E. Lovely piece. It actually reminds me of the enamel work of David Andersen, it might be Scandinavian after all.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I'm late again in responding, guess I wanted to research more and then get back to you with an answer. I really shouldn't have because I haven't found out any more on my own. After having looked at other stones and materials I'm leaning against that the center isn't a stone but camphor glass or galalith. The medicinal smell is still there even after being out in the open and near me. So it's probably not the scent of a previous owner.... If this turns out to be a scandinavian piece then I have a feeling this might not be the original 'stone', the color isn't really right I think to the rest of the composition, but the brooch is still beautiful. I can imagine a baltic amber stone matching the color of the enamel. That would be outstanding!! Thanks again for all your ideas and help!

I just realized idcloisonne is no longer on CW? All answers and text from idcloisonne is gone and looking back it sometimes looks here like if I'm talking to myself. Where are you idcloisonne?! I miss our enamel discussions :).
