The mark inside is from Germany US zone - so I know they were made around 1945-1949, but beyond that, I have no information on what they are called (not lighting just decorative) or what they might be worth ... they are family items passed down from my parents and not for sale - I just need to know if they should be insured!

They are beautiful Luster Lamps, and they sell for a lot of money on ebay and other auction sites. Here is a nice article about luster lamps. http://www.ebay.com/gds/MANTEL-LUSTER-LAMP-GUIDE-PLEASE-READ-CONSIDER-/10000000010622734/g.html

Thank you Trusy1! I will do some research on luster lamps. These were never meant to be lamps that I know of and are hollow inside - you can see all the way through them from top to bottom. I wish my parents were still alive to ask more about where they came from. My fathers family owned a furniture store in Detroit back near the turn of the century (1900) till at least 1950. I know other items in my family came from that store, but I don't know if these did or not.
