    Fell in love with this mantel clock & bought it without knowing much about it. Now I'm on a quest to learn a little about its history :) I'm new to this folks, so I hope my terminology doesn't make you cringe too much!

    * Front face says "Western Germany" just below the 6.
    * The center of the face is open to see the workings of the clock.
    * It has 3 "winding posts" to wind up with the key
    * It has Westminster chime
    * Back has maker mark that has what looks like "Jossah" in script.
    * It has numbers (3 digits, dash, 3 digits) - serial number? Didn't think to get a picture of it but I can reply with that info if needed this evening :(

    I don't expect it to be some "million-dollar masterpiece" - I love its sound and think it's beautiful - just looking for some info & hope you might be able to help :)
    Thanks!! Kelly

      Makers mark says Jossah in script but maybe O's are A's or vice versa, and capital J might be capital I? Or maybe Jossck?
      There is the number 79 above the name.
      Below the name it says:
      TWO (2)JEWELS
      UNADJUSTED
      WEST GERMANY
      340-020

      I think I answered my own question- looks like the 340-020 represents the Hermle Clock company & tells which model of movement it is. Spring-driven movement. The 79 above represents the age of the movement (year it was made - 1979)
