This rocker has been in my wife's family for generations. The top head board appears to be hand tooled and the arms are wood that has been bent.
Made in Sheboygan, WI so says the original sticker label. There are metal torsion rods holding the arms down to the seat base.

You can research Sheboygan Chair Company with Google or any other search engine, it is well known and lots of information out there. I believe you will find it is a press back (double pass), not hand carved.

It looks almost identical to the Phoenix Chair shown in the center on the cover of the Schiffer Book for Collectors 1895-1908

Sheboygan went in and out of business in less than four years during the late 1920's. The chairs are pretty common and some bring in $100 or a bit more in good shape.
