I always pick these little bowls up when I see them in hopes of one day finding a true gem. This 5 1/2" in diameter one came from Volunteers of America. It's an unusual color combination. Almost Christmas like. The outside is an orange red oxide color. The interior is a crazed dark jade green. The finish on the whole piece is a bit textured like orange peel. It feels denser and heavier as well. Not light and airy like porcelain. No marks on the bottom and it seems to have some age to it. It's in perfect condition too. -Mike-
NOTE: Heard back from Peter on the collecting Chinese porcelain site. This is a fairly new piece with chemically induced crazing. The wrong green color and wavy glaze indicate it being modern too. Oh. well maybe next time. Never hurts to check with the experts though.
Beautiful!!!
Perfect simplicity.
Thanks everyone :)....I'm hoping someday someone will see one of these little bowls I collect and tell me I have a museum piece that's worth a fortune. Last year a lady bought a little white bowl at an estate sale. Had it on top her TV for a year and watched an antique show. Decided to have it appraised. Ended up being Song Dynasty and sold for 3.4 million ! It can happen :)
