My dad recently passed away and I found this really interesting watch in a little box he had tucked away with lots of childhood items.

The watch is missing the glass face. I've done a little research and it seems like this watch might have some collectibility value.

It's a great piece and I love thinking about him possibly wearing this as a child.

Any idea how/where I could get more information?

    Thanks!

The watch is rare and the band is rarer. :-) Great item! Be careful you don't lose the hands with the cover missing.

Fantastic heirloom from your later father! You can get a replacement crystal quite easily on Ebay.

Looks to me basil is missing also......take care to to tear the paper dial.....or as Adam said...loose a hand....hard to find.....I know....

Kerry you want them to tear the dial ? I know you meant be careful not to tear dial :-)

Thanks for your feedback and info. You all are quick!

Kerry did you mean "bezel"? I had assumed the glass and metal bezel would all be one piece. Do you think it would be worth it to try to replace that if we decide to sell the watch?

I'm not sure if those of you following this thread are into all vintage/antique watches or just character watches. I also have several pocket watches and ladies wristwatches that were in the same box that I found the Donald watch. When you want to have things like this valued do you bring them to a jeweler or search out someone who specializes in watches?

      Thanks again for your insight.

LOL .....yes bezel...and the bezel and crystal are separate pieces.....replacement would help bring top dollar.. The three of us commenting are timepiece collectors, all types, shapes and forms :-) Sorry about all the typo's earlier....on phone and big fingers, small screen...bad eyes

The bezel and crystal are 2 separate pieces. I would be happy to send you one just to make sure the watch doesn't get damaged. If interested, just send me an email.

Yes, sorry pattymanwaring. Feel free to delete all my comments not related to your watch. I've been trying to get ahold of Kerry via email, but have been having technical issues.

Thanks to everyone for all of the comments on the Donald Duck watch. Very helpful. I do have other pocket watches that I discovered and I'll be posting them as well in the next few days. Hope for your feedback. Have a great day.
