I don't know anything about this elephant or it's functions. There is a small music box under the tin or metal elephant but it doesn't work.

Sammi is there any name on the music box?
    2. Sammi.bang, 10 years ago
I have looked but I can't find a name on it anywhere.
I have searched the internet for hours trying to find one that even resembles it but Ive had no luck.

There was a U.S. company that made several of these types in the 1970's, I believe. I can't remember the name but there were several designs. I haven't seen the elephant one.

      I found this:

      https://www.etsy.com/pt/listing/171338426/brutalist-clown-music-box-mid-century?ref=market

There are many similar details in this clown that resembles your elephant, like the flowers around the base.

When you google for images of "jere elephant music box" you will find a picture of one just like yours at Etsy but the item was sold and only the picture was left . This "jere style" thing is named after artist Curtis Jere.

Some other similar items mention "sankyo" as the maker but I am sure this is the maker of the music box mechanism only.

Yours is a cute piece. Congrats.
