This is DALU, the lamp designed by Vico Magistretti in 1969 for Artemide.
It was made in melamine –although nowadays editions are made in plain plastic- and stands 26 cm. tall. The best thing about it is, of course, its shape, that reminds us a lot of that Verner Panton gave to his famous one-piece chairs. This is not the first and only one-piece plastic lamp designed by Mr. magistretti, but the way he manages to create this lamp is trully intelligent and makes this design an absolute icon of modern design..

LOL Just this one in black, Sean!!! So far it lives at the other house, but I really want to have it closer to me (it's one of those i always always wanted to have), so will claim it for myself next time we're there! :)

I use mine in the kitchen .
Rare? I don't think so. They were equally made in white, red and white (as far as I know... nowadays the plastic version use even transparent plastic in pink, range... )

okay , ive been keeping this unwraps for a while I do have a lamp posting and when I post this you will love it , my land lord is rewiring the lamp as well cosmetically it is in great shap:)
