These are three of a set of four paper dolls that were handed down to me by my mother. They are colored pencil renderings given to my mother by a friend when they were in high school - obviously in the 40s. Mom graduated in 1941. Each doll has from 15 to 20 dresses and all are very nicely drawn. They have obviously been played with (by me and my sister) and one head is missing (thank you to my brother).
The pencil has faded over the years, and I battle with myself about whether to recolor them - I have some training in colored pencil drawing - but hate to mess with the originality.
I love your post and the lovely hands of your mother.
I am with PHIL. thanks for sharing this and yours as well. Wonderful items!
Love the actual STYLE! Seems like the women of this day had much more class. I love these, what a treasure you have here!
Thank you Phil, Virginia, shareurpassion and vetraio (really have to get to know names) for your kind comments. I have felt blessed to have my mother's paper dolls, and more for her love of study of all things esoteric.
Lovely!
