Went to Adamstown, PA on vacation this week, and got a ton of stuff. This is the first piece, a nice deco lamp with a wooden base and glass horse's head shade. There are no markings that I can see except on the lamp switch, where it says DEAL I just thought it was cool. Can anyone give me some more information on this neat lamp?
appears to be a one-off inventive use of a Federal Glass Horsehead bookend : )
Thanks, Tallcakes. I don't think they're one offs, though. I saw a pair out on ebay or Etsey ( I found them when I was looking it up to see what they were worth before I bought it, but now I can't find it). I added a picture of the base with the lamp. It could be done at home, but it looks machine made. Thanks for the info on the glass!!
very beautiful upstate :)
Thanks, Sean, and thanks for all the loves everyone!!
Your very welcome upstate!!
the wood base does look like fairly simple router work using a template; could be someone made these to accompany this and other similar glass pieces. Very nice : )
I recently found two of these glass horse heads at a local thrift store. I thought they were bookends of some type. Online they are for sale regularly on EBay as Federal or Indiana glass, c. 1940.
very elegant and stylish!
Thanks, Mary. If they had a good price you should pick them up. They are going pretty well. And thanks ho2!
