This was on the display wall at Volunteers of America this morning. They must have just put it out because it wasn't there yesterday. I think it has a great sense of movement and expression in the carving. She's quite angry with her ears laid back and a toothy snarl. Not sure what material the teeth are, but I can tell you they are needle sharp and definitely not plastic ! Maybe bone. The eyes appear to be glass. It's 8" tall and sits on a 7 " x 4 1/2" base that looks like a different type of wood, It might just be dyed a darker color than the rosewood of the tigers body. There are no marks anywhere that I could see. I've seen several online and they all say the same thing. So I'll go with late 19th, early 20th. A really nice piece regardless of it's pedigree. -Mike-
She sure has presence!
How are the breathing cats taking to her?
They actually never saw this, but I'll tell you what the one was afraid of. That big Intrada Italian chicken figure. My orange one would sneak up to it and back away and sneak up and back away. I told her "it's gonna get you" and she'd run away. That was only the first day though. They're used to it now...lol.
Heehee! You tease!
