The documentation of Loetz shapes and decors prior to the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition is pretty sparse, so it's a rare thing to find a vase that is so well documented from this period.
The paper pattern for PN I-3282 has written on it, Makart Decor IV/103. Makart is a color described in Loetz Bohemian Glass as a "reddish Aurora". Aurora is further described as a "pink opal" color. Makart is therefore "reddish pink opal". The outer surface of the vase appears to have been rolled in frit and re-fired, creating a stippled texture. The entire body of the vase is delicately painted in gold scrolls, vines, leaves, berries, and pods. On the bottom, in gold ink, is the decor designation - IV./103. The vase stands 7.75" tall, which also matches the line drawing. (the bar on the left side of the paper pattern represents a comparative length of about 6 inches). The Orientalism style of the time represents the beginning of the transition from Historicism to Art Nouveau.
The last photo is a scan of the paper pattern from Lötz Böhmisches Glas, Band II (Musterschnitte), by Helmut Ricke.
beautiful piece! could You please some time post a picture of surface texture, at first glance before I read the description I had an impression that it's acid treated because of how low gloss it is.
Mac, I will try - I looked at it under a loupe, and it looks to me like it's been rolled in glass frit, then re-heated until the frit began to melt, creating a stippled texture. It isn't coralene - it's a surface texture of the glass.

The thought had occurred to me, Steve - also the similarity of the decor to a certain yellow shaded bowl you and I both know. :)
... think the flowers were different on that one .... :-) ... and it was a IV/5 .... the LA piece looks more like the IV/13's ...
Of course if I knew then what I know now, I would have kept the bowl - but there are more finds out there, and I know the bowl is in great company.

The glass type and colour of the liveauctioneers "apricot bowl" looks definitely the same as the glass of my "pink ribbed vase". And also the way in which the leaves and stems are painted, is exactly the same.
Looks like the same colour on this beautiful orientalism vase too, but the surface treatment makes it a little bit harder to see..
