I can shed a LITTLE light on this for you, as you probably have gathered this is certainly not an original, it is a reproduction or "Re-Pop" as us poster collectors refer to them as. "David Allen & Sons Ltd" was a lithograph company located in the U.K. during the late 1800's into the 1900's. They printed some Magic posters, Circus posters, I believe some War posters, and general Advertising posters.

"The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art" is just that, located in Florida. When Art museums house an exhibit, they will usually reproduce some of the original works for sale to guests. My guess is they held some type of turn of the century Circus exhibit and this was one of their reproduced posters they sold during that time. One poster like this, complete with the Museum's name at the bottom, was up for auction in 2012 with a starting bid of $50. The lot was passed on, but still a GREAT image non the less. Good eye, great buy if you like it and plan on displaying it. Hope I was of some help.

Your welcome, glad to help. Most people will mat out the museum's name when they frame the posters, but I'm sure there are more out there. You could always call the museum up, they would give you the most accurate information on it. Just a thought.

Did a littke research and came up with this...the poster is mounted to a posterboard from the rag shop back in the late 60`s so it has some years on it and still looks very appealing to me any thought on the poster board mounting ...I know it can tend to lose some value
