Here is a little pocket/wallet calendar card for 1963 promoting The Top Hat Diner of Kingston, PA. Now defunct, this place was very popular in its time.
Progress or regress, the site is now a parking lot :(

My grandfather owned a diner in West Springfield, Massachusetts called Charlie's Diner located an 218 Union St. I go nuts over old diners! LOVE IT!! Great post Ted! =)
Hi, tom….thanks for the interesting comments, esp. with regard to your Uncle's diner!
I love the diners, too! there are still a # of them around here…the north eastern part of Pennsylvania. I should photograph some of them before they are all packed up an shipped away to out of state locations, or worse yet, end up in diner Heaven :(
Thanks, again, tom...glad to hear that we share such mutual interests!
As an aside, flickr has # of groups featuring such items. Not A Chain Restaurant USA is one, and Vanishing America is another that comes to mind…I am sure that there are others, also….
Take care, my friend…..

I love diners and it is sad so many of these are gone now . Great post and I can smell the fries cooking from diner from here ! :-)
Thank you, Manikin! Yes, diners have always had a sway on me, too. Whether in town or on the road, I look for diners. With alternatives like that, who needs a fast food drive in?
