Stop!!! Horrible thing! I believe you have a set of mid century modern Heywood Wakefield furniture set, with the original finish! Check the drawer and back for any makers mark. Even if it's not Heywood Wakefield, it is still a good mid century modern design. Painting would destroy it's MCM appeal.
Welcome to CW
the finish on these is called blonde birch, i think. it's either Heywood Wakefield or a knock-off. i agree w/ rocker-sd.
I agree 100% do not paint it !
NOOOO0000000ooooooooo.......Do not paint it!!
~ YIKES ~
It has character right now
Wow thanks for the advice and help with the id on the furniture~ upon further inspection i found a number on the back of the dresser ~in a light blue pencil 9280 written 3 times ? If that means anything? Regarding the condition~ the top on the vanity is toast ~ ultimately I would like to sell the set to someone as is but is there a market for this? How difficult is it to restore a finish like this? Could a novice like me do it ?
I would venture to guess that the number is the finish number. Depending where you are located there is a great interest in Mid Century Modern Design. I would leave the restoration to the buyer.
