    Hello,

I was hoping somebody may help identify what this tool is and it's purpose. It has a removable clip of some kind as shown in picture 2.
    It also has enscribed:
    Willets
    Patent
    No 17304
    ENGL_06

I look forward to hearing any responses

    Thank you
    Stuart

The UK doesn't appears to have old patents available online.
      Has me stumped!

Stuart I think this is an early hair straightener.

Of course not! No idea...but I love old tools. They just ask you to hold them and move them and admire the workmanship in them.

My thinking is it's a razor stropping machine (tool), Samuel Willitt in the UK may be it's maker.

It"s hard to guess from photo's and not being able to see what type of movment the mechanism makes, but I think Tube Amp may be on to something. You might try fitting an old Razor Blade in the clip and experiment with the movement.
