Hello,
I was hoping somebody could help identify this wooden tools purpose.
It looks like it may of been used for sowing of some kind.
There is no writing on it, just a metal hoop and needle.
Any help would be grateful.
Thank you
Stuart
Old hand stitching sewing tool. I have one also not quite sure how it works but it is for sewing .

Working end looks like this was used on leather.
I think so to fhr something heavy duty . Mine was in My Grandmothers sewing box I was thinking she may have used it on something very heavy but never quite figured out the threading of it and how it slides and why ?
I have only ever seen them used on patchwork quilts long ago. They were different than this but basically similar in design.
My Grandmother made quilts fhr you may be on to something . It might pull the yard through so she could tie knots on quilt ! :-) When you put 2 pieces of fabric along with the wool in middle it is pretty thick to tie together ! Good going I bet that is what she used it for , Gee your so darn good you get a xoxo :-)
As I recall....watching one of these being used was like the way they do latch hook rugs now days. There was a system to it that looked difficult but if you knew how to do it then you could make it look easy.
Thanks for the info guys & gals, much appreciated.
Please have a look at other items I have posted, see if you can help identify anything else.
Thank you
Stuart
I agree, rug hooking tool. The needle would push the material thru a burlap backing to make hooked rugs.
