Just in from Austria, this is a Josef Knížek enamel reduction vase, designed by Maximilian Boudnik at the Antonienhütte glass factory at Ullersdorf (near Teplitz). It's a fairly small piece - the bowl is about 2.5" tall (exclusive of handles) and about 4-5" long. Fire polished rim, ground and polished pontil. It would have been made between 1900 and 1910.
What a Fabulous Find!
Thanks, Kevin - I loved the handles - had to have it. :)
I envy you Warren!!! such a stunner!! :)
I've always loved Josef Knížek pieces. The ancient Roman glass patina that he approximated is phenomenal. Sweet vase, Warren.
I just love these. Great find with the handles.
