I got this table from my mother who got it from another family member. It is a 4 legged metal with removable painted glass top and an electric fan mounted in the base. Early air conditioning?
The glass top is layered glass/corrugated cardboard/metal sheet. The glass is painted dark brown on the underside to match the body of the table. The metal sheet has the words Granite City sheet metal printed on it. There are other words that are worn off. These are held together in a metal ring frame closed with 2 screws. Due to age and wear the paint on the under side of the glass is cracked and peeling. When the top is removed =
Inside the table is a large removable metal cone that I am told is to hold ice chunks that cool the room when the fan is running. Under the removable cone is a smaller removable cove on 3 arms that is used to collect drips. Under this cone is the mounted 4 blade electric fan. The fan has a 3 foot cord with a 2 prong plug.
