I went to out local Salvation Army and found some really nice things today. First up, I bought a couple of bags of costume jewelry for a buck a piece. This was in one of the bags and I knew it was old. I've seen these Victorian brooches on the antiques shows so I knew it was an Intaglio or paperweight brooch. Intaglio is a techniques in which an image is created by cutting, carving or engraving into a flat surface. In this case it's been carved and colored on the reverse and mounted in a stamped brass oval that's about 1 1/2". It's in really nice shape. The pin and it's mounting and the "c" clasp are a bit bent but that's it. Guess I'll keep buying these grab bags. There were a lot of nice pieces in them but this is the real treasure !

very beautiful!!! . I wished it was clearer .
Thanks Sean :)...I know my camera can't handle closeups and shiny sparkly items. It always blurs it. I hesitate to post jewelry because my pics don't capture how pretty they really are.
Your very welcome Mike!!! I understand!!
What a pretty pin! Great find! I love to look for jewelry because each item I find is a little piece of art. Well, beauty lies in the eye if the beholder, but to me the monetary value is not as important as the design, history, and esthetics of an item. I really love this pin!
