I have had this ca. 1890s cabinet photo of travelers aboard a ship for a while but I have been unable to identify what the name or purpose is of the outfit the second from the right is wearing. Possibly something to shield them from the sun? Any ideas?
Thanks for the love everyone and thanks icollectglass. That could be it but unfortunately I can't find any other examples of what a Victorian water poncho looks like.
A larger photo would help in the identification.
Thanks everyone for the comments and likes. Unfortunately I can't find a way to make the image much larger.
It looks like it could be better for keeping rain off.
Looks like a pointy Sou'wester.
Thanks PatSea
i think he's supposed to be the tree in a christmas pageant, no?
If only he had a few nice early ornaments.
He may have Chinese cross dresser issues !! (:-D)
