Wondering if it is part of some kind of car jack?
definitely not a car jack part!
Well, thru the elimination process, it's not a salad fork.
well glad you pointed that out! i was almost gonna suggest that it was an early early salad fork! for those really tough heads of lettuce!
Would you please take a photo of the top and the back side?
It looks like an alignment tool, for what, to be determined.
Thank you,
T A
I think you have a rail missing that this would have been mounted on.
OK, maybe a bolt stretcher? LOL
Think WWII or before when pipes were brass and plumbers male or female were called pipe fitters. No stick welders everything was gas.
Oh! got it fhr. For "sweating" copper pipe together! Hey, you're good!! See it now. I'm truly impressed!

Actually I believe they were originally made for brass joints rather than copper.
i think tubeamp has hit the nail on the head!!!!!!!!! definitely an alignment clamp!!!!! makes perfect sense with the bolts in the 2 ends and chain drive between the 2 with a handle!!!!!!!!!! put it on the piece tighten the 2 bolts to tighten to the piece then crank together!!!! who'd of thunk!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for everyone's help
Now all you need is the rail it mounts on.
You are very welcome Sledgeheli.

no rail needed. where you think it needs a rail is where your 2 work pieces go. they clamp to the pipe or whatever your trying to pull together
