Doesn't look very Monk-ish or Gothic to me. I was thinking Spanish colonial when I read the end of the message when you say it has Mexico on bottom. So no doubt a colonial adaptation of a European style. Traditional chairs in Andalucía, in the South of Spain, usually have torned legs... but these sem to have been done quite over the top. On the other hand, the shape of the seat makes me think of Baroque... I'd say it0s the work of a local carpenter. Sorry i can't help with this, but really not my field of expertise.
