I have no idea where this came from, except that it has "USA" on the bottom. It was my grandmother's ashtray and I was always intrigued by it as a child.

USA mark was commonly used among California pottery makers - pull out the lighter and see if any identification marks on that.
Very cool looks like a lobsters claw . I would say California Pottery also .
That's really interesting. I always thought it strange, but I never considered that it could be a lobster claw. Thanks for perspective.
I believe that is correct design name try and google Lobster claw ashtray :-)
The bottom of the lighter says USA and the bottom of the ashtray says 376. After you mentioned Lobster Claw yesterday, I actually found someone online who had a similar one, but it was white. Crazy.
