I actually went to the Randolph Flea Market today as a customer!...Gasp!!
Anyway, I went in to see some friends and to take some time to wander at my pleasure...I never intended on buying a single thing! This gal doesn't pay retail!

This both had the most interesting hodge podge of goodies. He had all the sides of his tent up so it was a zillion degrees in there...might of bought more if I didn't feel like passing out.

Anyway he had a HUGE pile of old photos. Dozen's of wedding shots, the grumpy Victorian's staring stoically etc. I picked these out of the bunch.

The first picture is the Powers family. I like seeing the gals jewelry and how casual it appears.

Second just a picture with cool hats.

Third appears to be WWI?? He looks really into her. I do not think the frame is original but the guy did not want me to just nab the photo. It looks metal but is cardboard and glass...neat.

Amber I have a question for you, how much do you find these for? Just curious. I've got a few and one inparticular that I really love, the girl is holding a rose. I love roses=your middle name, my daughters middle name and my grandmothers first name :)

Share, I don't like paying more than a buck or two for these. However subject matter is key! Dogs, working tools, specific jewelry, etc. these can get get to 20+.

They're great, but the one with the family on the porch is simply amazing :)

These days I try and find less studio pictures and more "life" pictures like the porch pic. Plus those hats!
Than you all for the lovely comments and loves.

"....subject matter is key! Dogs, working tools, specific jewelry, etc. these can get get to 20+."

Couldn't agree more-- subject matter is a big determinator in collectibility and value. I'd add a few more to the listing: any animals (esp. CATS), weapons, military, street scenes, attractive people, african american and anything UNUSUAL.

Fine details can be the difference in a $50 image and a $500 image!

By the way the couple (with soldier) are great. It dates from right after the war as he wears overseas chevrons and looks to have a Victory Medal ribbon on his chest.

Of course, one one starts collecting one pictures one must make a subject selection... ot you're doomed!!! :)

My subject is people from around 1900 standing by pieces of Art Nouveau furniture... and especially if they are the narrow kind of picture... will share some! ;)

Thanks Scott, you are exactly right. I thought you might enjoy it.
Austro, please post! I didn't have a direction and just picked up everything at first.

Of course, if you become "doomed" (as I am) you can always become a dealer of antique images!

I too would love to see some of your images, austro.

Well, amber, whenever we start collecting something we first start getting everything, then we realized which parts are more appealing, or which one fit better with ourselves... it's the natural collector's way ;) Now you are going for "lve" pictures... that's an excellent way!!!!

I'll post them soon, I promise!!!
