I found this thing in an old shop filled with items that a friend of mine allowed me to go through. Does anyone know anything about this extinguisher? It looks like about a quart of liquid inside. I cant find info on it anywhere. There are no markings telling the company who made it, or anything. Stumped!
Hello, I had one similar in my shop, but it was round. It remained a mystery for a while on our end too. Well, still parts of it is a mystery. The most I coud get out of it was that it was a kitchen or woodstove (in house) fire extinguisher. As in one of the first (besides a bucket of water) indoor fire extinguishers. It was hung by the area that would be of concern. If a fire should break out then the bottle was grabbed and thrown at the fire until the other water was available. Like if the woman was in the kitchen cooking or a lantern over turned, and the guys out in the barn and there happened to be a spark that caught something on fire, the woman/ children would have the chance to stop the fire before it consumed the house. Mine didn't have any writing on it either and oddly, no one knows any more then that on my end... I'm not even sure if its a chemical or water inside the glass bulb. Because my concern was that if there was some sort of grease fire then it would make it spread, yah?
