We have had these chairs forever and do not know where they came from so any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks, William in California

I can't answer your questions but I can provide you with an idea for research. You have an archer on the back of the chair much like William Tell. There was a company called Tell City Chair Co. also known as William Tell Chair Co. and Tell Furniture company. They went out of business in 2011 after 146 years. There are a number of sites where you can still buy their original seat materials and parts such as drawer pulls etc. Their pieces are very collectable and usually very expensive. Items that originally sold for $6.50 now command well over $1000.00 You could contact some of the sites that deal in Tell and send them your images along with a request for their input about it being a Tell piece.

If that fails I will add a little more frustration. It could be Robin Hood. If you search for "Robin Hood Bay" you should get a map of England showing you where Robin Hood Bay is located. They have a Robin Hood festival every year which includes the sale of antiques and collectables. Their site will have links where you could inquire.
