This cast stone sculpture of a Native American woman stands 13", including the stand, or 9.5", not including the base. It's marked Austin Prod Inc. 1983.

I have no idea whether this is really a native american piece or not, but would love to find out.

Does anyone know anything about it? Thank you for any info you might provide.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer [or whatever season you may be in at the moment]!

No it isn't actually a native piece. Austin Productions is no longer in business. Information on their different works is difficult to come by but there is an individual building a database of their items. There is also an Austin reseller in England that I found useful for finding out actual sale prices as opposed to asking prices. There is also a dealer in Sarasota, Florida but they don't answer emails even if you say you are a buyer. I will see if I can find the links and post them. I have their towering spheres which is rare and almost impossible to find. Only worth a few hundred but I was given it in perfect condition so I didn't argue.

That email address is for a guy named Charlie King. He is trying to build a database to document all Austin Production items. He is a bit slow answering (three or four days) but he does reply. He is doing this part time so don't expect miracles. He will share information, links etc. so he is a good contact.

The link above is for a site in England that has a small supply of Austin items. They are good about answering emails and you can browse their collection and prices without joining or giving any information. Information on the items is rather difficult to find because there doesn't seem to be any catalog or archives available to the general public. I have been researching mine for several years and gathering bits of information. I finally found the sculptor who did the piece and think I located him out in California. He was in NYC when my piece was designed. My puzzle is coming together.

Very nice :).....I have a couple of their pieces too ho2cultcha. Both are damaged but, I still like them. They were worth rescuing.
