I purchased this cabinet along with a collection of barbed wire from John Weiss about six years ago. He was a barbed wire collector in high school in southern Colorado. He was raised on a ranch and had his own cattle. John had this cabinet made in the 1970s to house a portion of his collection. There are nine trays in the cabinet which may be removed for display. Photos of the individual trays may be seen in my postings. The cabinet is 24" x 45" x 37.5".

40 years ago I used to metal detect on the prairie out in Kansas. Darn old barbed wire kept setting off my detector. I rolled it up and hung it in trees. I often wonder how many dollars I hung in trees. I was on Fort Riley where detecting wasn't allowed but I was an MP and not terribly worried. I never found what I was looking for but I did find a goodie or two. Later I found out barbed wire was collectable. I couldn't believe the prices per foot it was selling for. Live and Learn.

LazyBoy - Thanks for asking. No, I didn’t build the cabinet. I purchased it from John Weiss in Casa Grande, Arizona. I replaced the liner in the trays with “palomino” naugahyde. The contents are a combination of wires from his collection and mine. The trays are removable and may be displayed on easels. I have attended quite a few barbed wire collector conventions and my wire displays have won best of show a number of times.
