It all started in 1997 with just four silver spun aluminum Kromex canisters of Flour, Sugar, Coffee & Tea given to me by my mom (originally a wedding present 1962). I was hooked after that and collected it ever since. Even though there are other coloured lids, my favourite is the copper version and the silver with black lids. (Forgot to put a square breadbox in the photo, but have that too)
Always on the hunt for more pieces. :-)
Kromex is new to me- are they still in production?
Great post and welcome.
Beautiful pieces. These are new to me too.
Kromex kitchenware was made by Alcoa Aluminum Company around 1957. Alcoa was mainly an industrial firm at the time. They were purchased by Reynolds aluminum in the early 1960's. It was around that time that metalworking companies changed to industrial and not domestic production (early 60's ??). Kromex was sold at Montgomery Ward and Sears to name a few. The colors of Kromex lids came in turquoise, pink, yellow and black.
