There have been a couple posts recently related to thorned tube vases. This is a good opportunity to see if someone can help me.
In 1887 Clarke advertised a line of fairy lamps on "Rustic Flower Stands" that used thorned tube vases mounted on mirrored plateaus. One of those tubes supported a matching fairy lamp. In over 40 years of collecting fairy lamps I have never seen one, nor have I ever met any who has seen one. Perhaps there is someone in this forum who has.
Exactly who Clarke commissioned to make these stands is a mystery. However, my best guess is that it would be a British firm. But, other options are certainly possible.
If you have any information, theories, or opinions I would love to hear them.
Jim
PS: The last image, from our undocumented collection, is probably a marriage. But, an interesting adaptation.
They look incredible. Hope you find one!
