This sign is 22.5" x 15.5" and is in pretty rusty condition. but it's still very legible and has the interesting gargoyle graphics which are in good condition. is this sign still worth anything in this condition? thanks for any help you can give me.
Absolutely still has value, to the right person. I'd be proud to own it.
i just noticed that it has been re-used as a mobiloil sign and there's an older soda sign underneath! cool!
Actually I prefer them like this. Great sign.
i do too mcheconi. i don't have much interest in signs that look like they just left the factory, even if they are as old as the hills!
Awesome sign!!! Is it a flange sign? The soda letters are bleeding through, not painted on top of the porcelain?
thank you Trey. i'm not sure if it is a flange sign or not. i think it is, but the flange rusted off. the soda sign is bleeding thru the porcelain where it has worn away a bit - which is very unusual, i think.
That is very unusual, it looks like someone painted over the porcelain at one time then someone attempted to remove the paint. Do you have lacquer thiner or paint remover to test that theory?
i was going to say that the 'SODA' was under the porcelain, but on closer inspection you are right Trey. The 'SODA' sign was painted over the porcelain. i can probably remove it w/ laquer thinner. sorry for the confusion, folks!
as Trey predicted, the blue 'SODA' is coming off.
gotta love this!!!!!!
thanks gargoylecollector! not surprised to see that from you!
