Septimus and Clara Miller visited Waterloo in 1907. The town of Waterloo is only 11 miles or 18 km south of Brussels. The town is a just a few miles north of the battlefield.
This is the only card collected by the Millers which shows anything of the town of Waterloo itself.
The word Waterloo derives from two Dutch terms: "water" meaning "wet" and "loo" meaning" "forest".
The Church of Saint Joseph of Waterloo (l'Église Saint-Joseph de Waterloo) is an 18th-century Belgian church in Waterloo. The beginnings of the church date back to 1687.
Inside this Baroque church there is a Monument to the British soldiers with a bust of the Duke of Wellington and a Monument to the soldiers of the Netherlands Army. It also has on its walls about 30 different plaques dedicated to officers who fell at the Battle of Waterloo.
Love the building its self alone is just very beautiful!!!
