    WonderfulW…
    (2 items)

I was given this by a friend; she was downsizing and never used it. Unfortunately she knew absolutely nothing about it and couldn't remember how she had acquired it.
(The saucer is of a different pattern, not meant to be used with this item.)
It's just under 4" tall without the lid, and 3-1/2" in diameter.
There is a 1-1/4" hole in the bottom of it.
Z.S.&C. and Bavaria stamped in gold on bottom.
No indication that it's hand painted, nor that the trim is gold trim.
Trim at the top of the jar and around the outside of the lid are the same; however the decorative trim under the floral pattern is different.
The base of the jar looks to be a bit crimped under the white glaze.
Could this have been a jar which was used at table to hold a canning/jelly jar, which would be easily removed by pushing up from the hole in the bottom?
I'm really curious and would appreciate any information. Thanks.

From what I have read - these were used for holding canned (condensed) milk but I suppose a jelly jar is another use.

This is such a pretty piece. I believe it to be a jelly jar, and don’t know if this was hand painted, but many of their pieces were. I just acquired a couple of salad plates, and now I’m hooked. The website below has a full article and marks. Hope this helps.
