This was a piece passed down in a bag of costume jewelery. It is a Thoma from Sidney Ohio.
The box case it came in looks is vintage. Looks to be a man's piece.
Looking for info on it and maybe a value..
    thanks

Debbie, just a tad bit of advice, first of all, don't let the word "costume" jewelery fool you. Some of it is more valuable than you can imagine. I suggest if you have a lot of this, get yourself a jewelers loop (can be bought for $20) and a gold test kit. Learn to use these items. They can save you more than a lot! A magnet helps too. Do your research here. When looking up an item, use the word vintage or antique in the search box. This item may not be Thoma, and if it is, I'm pretty sure that is says so on the clasp. Learn your numbers for gold and silver. Sometimes gold has symbols only. Sometimes gold has no makers mark or hallmark, depending on the age.

You have to look carefully at the clasp to see if there is any makers mark on it anywhere...these can sometimes be found in odd places and they may be so tiny it could take you time to find it. The best light is daylight, a sunny day yet in the shade (so you don't get blinded by glare).
Last but not least, when in doubt, take it to a jeweler...Then take it to another until you are satisfied with the results.

F.Y.I. At one point, I tossed a large medallion in the trash because I was so frustrated with it, no markings at all etc...I took it out, took it to a jeweler who had to cut it because he didn't know and low and behold, I got over $1500.00 cash for it. 2 ounces of gold! Good luck. You've got some studying to do :)
