This box is 15" long x 9" deep x 7" high
It appears to be hand painted and has a brass latch.
The interior is covered in a blue fabric that is hand-sewn with string, rather crudely but neatly onto the box. It looks like glue was also used to secure the fabric.
The side handles also brass and are attached inside the interior by metal braces.
This box was given to me by my mother-in-law. She received it from her parents who were stationed in China with the US Military...I'm not sure of what timeframe they were there but my mother-in-law is 82 so I would believe that they were there somewhere between 1925-1930.
I like this first of all because it was given to me as a gift from my mother-in-law; Second, the piece was clearly made by someone who took a lot of care to build this and then paint it. Even thought it is old the colors are still vibrant.
I love your treasure!
