    Unusual vase with all over decoration of people, animals, and creatures. Looks like a piece from antiquity. I have no clue about ethnicity. It is marked on the base, but I cannot distinguish the characters. Any thoughts at all might be beneficial. Whatever it is, I love it.

      Thank you for your input. I too did not believe it to be Chinese or Japanese. This type of imagery looks so familiar to me, but I can't put my finger on it. If you would pursue it further, I would appreciate it greatly.
      This type of "frieze" pottery reminds me of Grecian art. Check out the "Francois Vase".
