This lamp was found at an estate sale - it is EXTREMELY heavy....appears to be solid brass except the base....and seems like it would be for a slag glass or leaded glass frame. The finial is also very unusual- not sure it is original to the piece and it is marked "Japan". Can someone please help me figure out what this lamp base is--and if not that--what is the deal with the finial? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
