I picked this up yesterday at Volunteers of America. It was just eight ninety nine plus tax. Searching online I started to see rings with the same open back setting and stones. This ring is not marked anywhere that I can see. It's either a very good faux piece, lesser quality stones, or the real deal ! The last picture ( much better than mine) is the one on Ebay that sells for a little over two grand. It's almost a dead ringer for this one. Same size stones and the mounting is almost identical. Very interesting to say the least, although I take Ebay listings very cautiously. Guess I'll have to take it to the jewelers. I'm always a bit embarrassed in the event it's nothing but my curiosity is really peaked. -Mike-

Note: A quick trip to the jewelers found this just to be a costume piece worth about twenty-five dollars. Not one thing on it is real. The band isn't even silver plated. Oh well it's still a nice bit of costume jewelry. -Mike-

I know the magnet trick too icollect :).... We have a large one holding up the calender on the fridge. This ring is not attracted to it so ...just maybe. My dad's wedding band is white gold and it looks and sounds the same as this ring when you tap it against a surface. I don't know just comparing nothing definite. An acid testing kit and loupe are a good investment if you really get into jewelry. It's fun just treasure hunting and maybe finding a gem.

I think even some gold alloy's might have slight magnetic attraction Ken. That's where purity come into play. Again the acid tests are how you find out. Then the weight and density. It pretty interesting stuff.

Verdict is in it's just a costume piece worth about twenty-five dollars. Still made a profit though....lol. Maybe next time !

I think convert it to a special cat collar!
It's a well made piece of costume jewelry.

lol... my cat's would eat it ! It is well made but I knew deep down it wasn't real. I took a gold chain in to be repaired so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I also showed them the jade pieces those got a thumbs up. They won't estimate the value on real pieces because then it's considered an appraisal and that costs money.
