This is an incredible story that happened to me today. I was sitting in my house lamenting to get another display case and only dreamed of a beautifully rounded glass case. I have been searching for months and months. :(
So the story goes..... I was looking on Craig's list and making phone calls. To take a look at curio cabinets. I had a super low budget to work with. Which I won't disclose for fear of being laughed at. So hence the story goes I was searching and about to make a phone call and my phone staring ringing. And my good friend and co collector ""Russ" was calling me. I called him right back. He said that he found something for me. That I have been searching for..for a longtime. And that he is bringing it over as soon as I have the space. Lmao, I tore open my living room and made space!! Hence the clutter behind the glass.
This stand almost 5 feet 8 inches tall with legs attached. Also comes with 3 solid oak shelves that are about an inch thick. FYI the legs are on top of the cabinet to show them. The cabinet is flat on top. More space for bohemian vases to be placed ;)))
I have no idea the age or anything. Help?
Nuts, I am so blessed. I am walking on air!!!
Agh, many thanks
Mine is almost identical - is yours a corner curio or a flat-back wall curio?
Agh, mine is flat backed and has original makers paper on the back. And says replacement glass can be obtained from Heritage art glass company.
Mine has no makers label but I know it came out of a Chicago area furniture store. I have always been careful with the glass, I had so much bubble-wrap on them when I moved they could have fallen off the truck and they would have just bounced. - Mine also has a decorative wood piece along the top of the back. I also have three thick shelves and they can be height adjusted inside because there are pre-drilled holes for the little shelf anchors.
Agh, wow we have the same cabinet. I am replacing the wooden pegs for steal ones. To secure the vases more. I am earthquake proofing the cabinet to the wall with Velcro and studs. Like I did my other cabinet. I am so excited with the case. How old do you think it is? Curious.

Mine is also about 5" 8" (not including the back piece) - do your shelves and the front "bow out" a little, not a straight arc? - The two decorative pieces on the sides of the door are a little more ornate on yours, other than that it looks almost identical. Do you have your key? - I obtained my cabinet in 2005 from an elderly lady who said she had gotten it in Chicago from a very well-known TV news station anchorlady. She said she had had it for almost 30 years and that it was already old back then. That's all I can really tell you.
Agh, I think this was made around 1910? My shelves do bow out and the door bows out even more. I am shocked that I have it. The key is being found. An antique lady may have an extra one or have one made. For me in brass....I love the cabinet and it was purchased for under $100. Or less...do you know where I can find a key? I have an antique tassel waiting. I am Leary of the glass breaking. The glass seems so delicate.
Just what I need...lovely display for all your lovely glass...:-)
Inky, I feel so blessed. I am so happy. Xoxo. Hope you find one soon!!
Other than for Lions feet on mine, yours is identical to mine....congrats LEE. Your vases will be very well protected. BOB
I can scan the key if that would help, mine is still on a tassel. There is a makers stamp on the back of the lock but I could not find it in the brass marks archives.
im glad you got it hun , xo
Perfection!!! I think you're right about the date as well. I'll check the keys I have to see if one will fit :) Congrats!
Scans on the way - you can delete your email above if you wish.
One other thing - there are no pins holding in my glass - the glass is set into grooves cut all along the inside perimeter of the wood pieces and you can only remove the glass by moving it from side-to-side.
Agh, thank you. I got the scan. And your are right. The glass is loose. And not firm. Now hunting for the key :)). I am going to see about securing it to the wall. :). And securing the base with wood chips since it's on carpet. Happy happy
