This cutie has a bisque head and is 12" long. She has an open mouth
showing 2 front teeth and a tongue. She has only painted lashes with
real eyes that are missing. It feels like she has real hair. Behind her
head it is marked P M 914 3 . The bottom of her feet are marked
11646 . Her body is porcelian and has a small chip on her rear. Her
leg joints are loose and she is missing 2 fingers on her right hand.
Wondering if head goes with body, if it was made by Otto Reinecke
or Porzellanfabrik Mengersgereuth or someone else. Wondering what the 3 means after the 914. Also about how old she is. She is another doll who has been in the family for generations that we can add to the mystery. Also, if I wanted to replace the eyes how do I measure them or know what to get?

German Bisque Character doll by Porzellanfabrik Mengersgereuth. These character faces vs dolly faces are always more desirable than a plain what we call a dolly face they have no personality like yours
      Circa 1900 -1915
Check bisque head careful for hairline cracks or chips around eyes . Very Cute ! Thanks for sharing her :-)

Oh I forgot to add the body is made of composition just head is bisque :-) called a bent limb body . Legs are not straight so it is clearly a Baby .

Are her eyes still in head ? They must be there unless someone took her cap and hair off her head . If they are there they can be reattached if plaster is still on them from when originally placed . The composition body is easy to fix broke fingers and does not decrease her value , She is on correct body .

There is a slight crack on her right forehead which I forgot to mention. It is barely
noticeable under the hair, in fact it looks like a strand of hair. I think the eyes are still there, I don't hear them move, but I can see some white plaster in there. Maybe
I should take her to the doll dr. Do you know what the numbers are on the feet?
    6. Manikin Manikin, 10 years ago
The numbers on feet mean nothing . I suspect at one time she was in a auction and that was item number or something but they have no meaning to her . The cap is easy to remove from head . You can gently lift and pull up on it as the glue is usually very dry and it releases easy . If the eyes are there we can put them back . The line you see maybe a hairline or factory flaw . Does it have dirt in it ? The cap and hair come off together . Try a corner and see if you can lift it . you can put a dab of water on that spot if needed . I did doll repair for 25 years :-)

Are you saying if I take the cap off, we can fix the eyes?? Isn't the cap glued to her
head? Don't you have to take the head off to fix the eyes? The line may be a factory
flaw as it does not go across the cap, but rather down the side of her forehead. It does not have dirt in it, that I know of because I washed it today with mild soap and water.

if line is pink it is factory flaw , Yes the eyes get fixed through top of head . That is why dolls have a hole on top so maker could set eyes and teeth and tongue if they had one . The bottom of her head has just a very small hole to string her head to body , Take cap off carefully . She is called a socket head doll means her neck has no shoulder plate and come to like a cone shape at bottom of head .

She looks like she may have a eye rim chip on upper L eye as I look at Photo . This was common as kids poked at their eyes .

I tried to do it and I see the crack goes underneath the scalp. It I take the cap off
the piece may get detached and then I guess it would have to be glued. I may want to do this with your help, but it is getting late here and I think I will let it go for tonight. Thank you so much for all your help to identify her and my other dolls.
There are plenty more to come:) I will be in touch again soon.
