4.5 inch shell casing turned into a heavy duty ashtray.
I made it in 92 whilst on deployment in SE Asia.
It took two casing to make this one ashtray.
The lid is made from the bottom of an identical casing.
Rarely do I polish it, but when I do, it just shines.

Great job. Assume you had access to a 3 jaw lathe? You obviously know what you are doing to do that taper on the top.

With a lot of direction from an engineer friend that was on the ship with me.
I found it quite fun to do.

MODERN trench art! Great to see documented items made by service members.

I am a trench art collector, with many pieces posted on CW. Take a look at my listings, if you have an interest.
