I have just dragged this from my garage and did a bit of a search and found it is by Alvino Bagni. I got it from the op shop a couple of years ago. I thought it was a lamp base and that it why it was in the garage.
Striking colours. It's quite large.

i have a vase i think is by him too. it's not signed but it has all the hallmarks of his work.
I read that his work has' ITALY' imprinted on the rim of the base. This one has.
