A vintage linen calendar tea towel from 1960 designed by the wonderful Tammis Keefe. She was a popular textile designer who worked in the 50s and 60s.
Calendar towels became popular in the mid 1950s and were often given as Christmas or housewarming gifts. Many had a pocket at the top edge for a rod and string to hang on the wall.
I love old tea towels, this is so pretty!
I have lots of Tammis Keefe, too. Thank you for your nice comment! I'm new here :)
Oh great! Welcome to CW, I love this site and you will love it too ;)
Love your tea towels!
They say so much about time and place don't they!! History and style on textile.
Thank you! You are so right - they do reflect the era to a "tea"!
beautiful collection you have !!!
I love these. I buy them on ebay all the time. I give them as gifts to people for the year they were born. I also wrap them around a bottle of wine as a gift.
I love this idea!
