I got this at at a flea market, both for its cool design, and for my unfamiliarity of the maker's mark on the reverse. The following is the response that it's issuing company had sent to me, for which I was very grateful…..
Dear Ted,
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, this is part of our history. Back in the 1950's through early 1970's our main stream of business was through organizations and churches. We are several rewards if you sold a certain amount of product. The program was geared towards churches so that they could stock there kitchen for church gatherings. We gave away coffee urns, puch bowls sets, silverware, dinnerware, pot and pans to name a few.
The plate you show came in a 6 piece place setting: dinner plate, salad plate, soup bow, slaw bowl, cup and saucer. They normally were given out as a 24 piece setting (4 complete place settings).
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Yours In Good Taste,
Kathy Meador
