Railroad sighn ..I think so planes and helicopters can see members from above

I know this came off of a railway train and do not know its purpose. Its huge. I would love some input. The guy I bought it from was a long time railroad worker and he said that if then had something explosive or extremely valuable they would put the sign on before leaving so it could be seen from flying machines and pinpoint the cargo
